Welcome back everyone! We hope you all had a fun filled week off and have returned ready for this next half term.
We have started to read our new class book...but have not yet shared with the children what it is called! We have had some fabulous discussion work from the illustrations in the book, which resulted in the creations of our own fantasy worlds (see the amazing photos!)
We have celebrated world book day by dressing up as book characters. Thank you to all the parents for the efforts with the costumes. The children (and myself) really enjoy the extra fun this brings to our class and also celebrate a very worthwhile day! We went on a 'scavenger hunt' in the library with a list of things we had to look for in the books, did crosswords and also wrote about our favourite stories. PHEW!
We then entered into a class competition of designing a book cover that would be about ourselves. There were some very descriptive entries. Well done to everyone, especially to the winners - Zack and Finlay!
In Maths, we have been comparing length and also height. Next week will be using rulers to measure. Perhaps you could support this by measuring things around the home!
Well done to this week's Star - Edward Knaggs :)
Although we do not tell the children that we are preparing them for the phonics screening in May, in class we really are working hard to ensure that they have a secure phonic knowledge to assist them. Please refer back to the sheets that were given out during parents evening, or alternatively please come and ask us for another!
Our home time story at the moment is Fantastic Mr Fox. The children have gotten very frustrated as I have left the story every afternoon with a cliff hanger...duh duh duh!
