We have moved on with our multiplication and division in maths this week. We have been learning to multiply by 1, 2 and 3 digit numbers and are fine- tuning our dividing skills by dividing 3, 4 and 5 digit numbers by a single digit. We have been applying our skills to some multi-step problem solving and reasoning tasks. We are starting to see the results of this in our books where we can independently show evidence to back up our reasoning.

After all the work on the Alma story, the children have been tasked, this week, with writing an independent story from 'behind the scenes.' The children have many ideas of how the story came about, who was behind it all, and it's natural conclusion. They make wonderful reading!

We had some visitors in this week to talk about our matacognition work after a fantastic write-up in the Whitby Gazette. We were able to speak confidently about how our metacognition work helps us in other areas of our lives and how having a growth mindset is a positive experience.

The 'Power of Yet!' is quickly becoming a mantra in Elm class. Why don't you ask your child to explain it to you? The children are completely on board with the idea and are enthused by it's meaning and potential for their learning.

Josh is this week's Star of the Week. Well done Josh!

As we have been reminded MANY times this week, today is the day that the children can open their advent calendars. Enjoy, Elm class!
