As planned this week we have celebrated our wonderful monster poems by sharing them with the whole class. The children commented positively on one an other's poems and picked out something they particularly liked. We are now moving on to writing stories based on the 'Three Billy Goats Gruff' and familiarising ourselves with the key elements of the story, using actions to help us.
In maths we have been problem solving, tackling word problems involving division. This has been very challenging as the children need to read the problem, decide on the important information and the maths operation they must use! It has been extremely encouraging to see how the children have tackled these problems with enthusiasm and increasing accuracy.
In History we have been looking at toys the children play with and discussing their favourite toy.We then looked at toys the children's parents played with at the same age and talked about similarities and differences. Mrs Winter kindly sent in some horse figures she played with and a train Mr Winter had as a child.Ted explained to the class from his homework sheet how his parents played with the toys and what they were made from.
