Friday 13th January

We have welcomed Miss Gildroy into class with us this week. Miss Gildroy is a third year teaching student and will be working in Ash class with us until the middle of March. This week we have been getting to know each other!

In English this week we have been focusing in on writing to persuade. We have analysed lots of examples and can now spot the features that make a text persuasive and how to grab the reader's attention. We had a group of experts who worked with Mrs Tillson on Monday and then each took and led a group later in the week.

In Maths we focused on area and problem solving involving area. We then moved to fractions and begun to find common equivalent fractions. Next week we will be learning about decimals.

We also began our Daily Mile this week! It was surprisingly difficult and 16 out of 19 children said they found it much more difficult than they had expected. It taught us that we would need to pace ourselves and build up to it as it took many of us a while to recover. We will be monitoring our progress and will continue to challenge ourselves to improve.

Billy was this week's Superstar for always persevering - even when the going gets tough. Well done Billy!
