Happy New Year to you all! We hope you had a lovely Christmas and enjoyed the holidays.

The children have come back to school ready to work and are eager to try all the new activities offered. In literacy we are looking at non-chronological reports and have been reading books, leaflets, holiday brochures and other examples to identify the common features. We have learnt a lot about cats and Mrs Gallon has modelled how to write a simple report. The children will be writing their own reports next week.

As a special treat Mrs Reynolds brought her two puppies into school today and the children were very excited!!They asked Mrs Reynolds lots of questions and with a partner wrote a fact they had learnt from her visit.

In maths we have begun to look at time and are currently reading clocks displaying o'clock and half past the hour.Next week we will draw on the clock hands to display a given time.If you wish to practise telling the time at home at o'clock and half past times this would be beneficial for your child.

In science we have begun to classify animals into groups such as mammals, amphibians, reptiles, fish and birds. The children have been learning the features of each group and will be sorting animals into their correct classification next week.
