Promoting British values now plays an important role in our current education system.
At Stakesby, British values are promoted in much of what we do, not least during our school assemblies, Religious Education sessions, our PSHCE learning and weekly circle times. The values are integral to our ethos statement and the vision we have for all our pupils complements British values.
As well as actively promoting British values, the opposite also applies: we would actively challenge pupils, staff or parents expressing opinions contrary to fundamental British values, including ‘extremist’ views.
General Overview - Being part of Britain
As a school, we value and celebrate being part of Britain. In general terms, this means that we celebrate traditions (such as customs in the course of the year) for example, Harvest festival during the autumn term, and Christmas events in December including a British Pantomime! We also value and celebrate national events.
At Stakesby, we recognise within our vision that we must broaden children’s horizons and raise aspirations whilst promoting British values.
This is now an integral feature of our curriculum and current school development.
Take a look at the document below to see some of the many ways we aim to promote these values. at Stakesby.
